Athens, Greece – December 12, 2025 – Marathon Airlines has reached a new horizon though a new wet-lease operation. For the first time in our history, one of our aircraft has crossed the Atlantic to begin operations in South America, supporting our partner Aerovías DAP in Chile. Our Embraer E190 (SX-PTM), which has just positioned to Chile through a multi-stop transatlantic routing that included Naples (Italy), Keflavik (Iceland), Goose Bay (Canada), Nassau (Bahamas), Lima and Santiago de Chile, arrived ready to begin a mission unlike any we have undertaken before.
This cooperation marks a defining step in our evolution. It extends Marathon Airlines’ presence to a new continent and adds South America to the list of regions where we have successfully operated over the years, which already includes Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and North America. With this milestone, our journey becomes even more global in scope and ambition.
Reflecting on this development, Marathon’s CEO, Andreas Kaiafas, states:
“Expanding our operations to South America is a defining moment for Marathon Airlines. Our partnership with Aerovías DAP reflects both our commitment to operational excellence and our readiness to support challenging and diverse environments across the globe. I would like to sincerely thank Aerovías DAP for the trust they have placed in Marathon Airlines as we establish our presence in Chile and continue building the foundations of a truly international operation, guided by the same values that shape every step of our growth.”
With Santiago as our base, we are honored to support scheduled services to Punta Arenas in Patagonia and to Puerto Williams, the world’s southernmost airport with regular commercial flights.
All of us at Marathon Airlines are eager to begin this new chapter and look forward to contributing to the success of Aerovías DAP in one of the world’s most unique and demanding regions, where the landscape itself becomes part of the story.
Marathon Airlines offers an all-Embraer jet fleet of E-175, E-190, E-195, and Legacy aircraft, catering to ACMI needs ranging from 88 to 118 seats.
